- nice video of that :) it is a nice looking haybine :) and I like that song that you were liaising to :) I like their songs :)
- We let it dry for 24 to 36 hours. When water runs out of it, that's a lot of nutrients being lost. we try and bale at 50 to 60 percent moisture. l
- how long to let it dry down i only did about 12 hours but when i open the bales juice runs out of them but my cows eat every bite
- this summer i had chance of mowing sorgum that was over 10 feet tall round baled within 12 hours of mowing just started feeding it great stuff put it in the tmr mixer and cant tell between corn silage or sorgum
- I don't know about BMR6. This was round baled dry after 5 days. I have also baled some as silage. We dryer it for 24 hours and baled it with a baler that had a crop cutter drum in the throat. Cows loved that. We wrapped it individually with plastic. If you use it for silage I highly recommend a crop cutter baler. For dairy cows it won't do much for your butterfat though.
- Is it a BMR 6 Sorghum-Sudan? How long did it take to dry down? You round baled it and wrapped it? We're an organic dairy and am looking for a good energy source, the research I've done says the BMR 6 Sorghum-Sudans will almost outperform corns. I need something I can round bale and wrap and put in my verticle mixer.
- It also takes nitrogen like corn does. Put on 400 lbs per acre of 32-0-0.
- I have not had any forage testing done. It produced 24 rolls at 900lbs each on first cutting, 21 rolls second cutting. If you are looking for good hay, this will produce. In a dry year have it tested for nitrates or you could kill your cows. Variety is Pennington Summer Grazer 3.
- how does it test and what kind of tonnage are you getting? I'm really interested in growing some next spring.
- This was done in the foothills of North Carolina. It was approximately 3 acres of first cutting.
- Where at?
- Nice Crop.
