- thats beautiful, when we planted sudan grass it grew like shit
- nice video of that :) it is a nice looking haybine :)
- im looking at getting an h8080, have you had any problems with yours
- Can you plant that in the summer like end of july?
- that would be awesome , i live on a 2500 acre family farm
- I can do that for you someday, say on me. we have a family farm that I hope to be able to pass on to my kids.thanks
- haven't got a clue.we cut enough for 1 bale about 2 weeks ago to see if I needed anything for the haybine, how fast it would dry,how the baler would pick it up and what kind of a job my silage baler would do(cutter baler) and how it would work in the vertical mixer.it is coming back a little.
- we were told to leave 6-8 inches for regrowth.not sure if it is to late for it to come back or not.
- I planted some DeKalb sorghum sudan grass back in the late 90s for summer grazing beef cattle. They loved it. I never tried baling it as we did not have the equipment. We divided it into blocks and grazed for two weeks then on to the next block. Worked good but it took a little longer for regrowth than I thought. Do you think you will get a second cutting?
- I'll come to Iowa and kill the deer! :D Yeah, we had 37 acres of winter rye and 23 acres of winter wheat. Put it all in bags and went to sudangrass. Good thing we had the other crops-we are down in the flat sand by the Wisconsin river and winter got all 50 acres of hay. All this rain was hard on the grass too. Hoping the second crop comes back good. We were told to leave a 4in stubble so it recovers faster.
- some day could you do a walk around or just list each peice of equipment and a bit of history , please reply
- put mine in after chopping rye.did you do the same? one good thing for me was where I put some of it. it has heavy deer pressure and they didn't seem to bother it. they kill the corn or beans.
- My nutritionist says if you get it put up right the BMR 6 Sudangrass makes good cow feed. Guess we'll see. This is our first year trying it too.
- hopefully silage bale it tomorrow. don't know about the quality, never did this before.was hoping to cut it last week, but chances of showers kept me from cutting.did see a couple of plants heading out.there are chances of rain monday-wed. night, so I hope it dries enough today(sat)..
- Looks pretty good! going to make baleage or chop it? Also will it be high enough quality to making decent milk or is it mostly dry cow and heifer feed?
