Corn With and Without Rye Cover Crops

- Tanaman cover crop apa saja
- Thank you. A great video. Have you tried adding a legume with the rye to grow some nitrogen for the corn? Have you tried using a crimping roller to roll down the rye?
- LLLLLLLLLL
- Is that drip irrigation I see?
- Thank you for the research
- I'm an old man and perhaps that equates to ignorance...but why is the modern practice to not INCORPORATE that cover crop..what you youngsters like to refer to as BIOMASS residue...into the soil to increase the tillth, residual nutrient return to the soil and moisture retention? The answer is, modern practices do not want to till the soil. You'd plant into asphalt if possible....but some things need to be revisited. Cover crops traditionally held the soil from erosion. Then, that crop was turned into the soil to feed it. With chemical burn down, all that is lost. The answer is to pour heavier fertilizer applications....then deal with the resudual nitrate concentrations...and add fungicide. If you will feed the soil vegetable matter...ie., incorporate your cover crops, you will find a great reduction in the problems you are enountering in your studies. Grandpa figured that out a hundred years ago....and truly many generations before him. I'm all for progress but you can't throw the baby out with the bath water. FEED THE SOIL vegetable matter...turn that cover crop under, don't burn it up and then give your corn a drink of red bull aka liquid nitrogen cocktail. Contrary to all the studies, the moldboard plow is not an enemy but a valuable tool when properly applied.
