- When you think about how sugarcane was harvested back in the olden days, with swarms of men wielding machetes, and often those men were slaves, it makes you appreciate machines like these.

- When the sugarcane is burnt, only the cut stalks go into the wagon hopper. Thus only the stalk goes to the sugar mill. But with no burn, all that leafy debris, sans only some of the green, goes along with the cut stalks to the sugar mill, thus diluting the sugar product.
